Yes that is right. You dont have to use Dexron, you can use any ATF, just buy the cheap stuff.
ATF has alot of detergants in it, so it breaks loose any and all sludge that is inside your engine.
After you do the flush make sure that you change your oil and filter again in 500 miles.
Then yet again 1000 miles after that and then you should be good.
If you switch to a full synthetic oil it will clean up any sludge that is left over and keep your engine clean from here on out.

Depending on how dirty your engine is, you may find that about 1500 miles after doing the flush, you may want to do another oil change cause the ATF will cause old sludge to continue to break down after the flush has been done.

I used a clean filter when I ran the flush and then changed it again when Ireplaced the engine oil.

thanks for all the replys, i just put in castrol syn/con blend i plan to put in, now do i need to put in the full syn after the flush then change in 500/1000miles then put more full sync and good filter? Or should I just use conventional oil with a semi good filter for the first 500 to 1000 miles then switch to fully sync (I notice my rover is not is in bad condition as the old witch who owned it last, but i as learned that a drive who is planing on selling a vehicle will "neglect the maitnance" before selling. Now that im having the money to do what I want I still have an abs light on which i plan to fix along with my leaky gear box in my disco 1 97. After that I will be replaceing the exhaust with the borla, i heard of magnaflow but i just want to replace the whole thing i notice Atlantic British recomends them. Honestly to tell yall im enjoying the repair (Im in the IT field) and it makes me feel good that im learning, though it is basic compair to the knowledge yall have I really enjoy it, again thanks for of yall helps.

Just use a dino oil for the short oil changes and then go to full synthetic.
