Ohmygosh Ohmygosh

It's not official yet, but so far getting a second opinion is looking promising! He let it run a full hour in his shop and explained (I'm going to screw this up) Something about the oil switch needs to be fixed, but the oil pressure is just fine! I need a new fan to prevent the car from overheating. At this point he does not condemn my engine, but is going to look into it further on Monday to be sure. Apparently I have some leaks in my coolant, but that isn't a big deal.

I'm seriously keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Wow. A $9000 anchor. Could have bought 2003 Land Rover Range Rover HSE
or this 2003 Range Rover HSE . and then blown 2k in a strip club.

Crossing my fingers for you too. The videos didn't sound catastrophic, but it's so hard to tell sometimes. Glad you seem to have found a reputable shop.

Just updating everyone. After the second mechanic told us the engine was OK we decided to go ahead and sell it on Craigslist.

We got $5000 and provided all the maintenance records so we didn't hide anything.

Overall we lost $3500, but it could have been worse. Thank you to EVERYONE on this thread. You encouraging me to get a second opinion saved us thousands of dollars!!

Glad to hear it, and thank you for the update. I've really felt badly for you and your situation.

I guess I've lucked out so far. Although, I did pay for it up front to get a clean one, and there's no guarantee it isn't on the horizon...
