Engine Really Need Replaced?

Except shipping that engine from AZ to AK is going to cost more than a new engine from the dealer. LOL

I've been looking everywhere I know people for an engine, including PHX. I have a friend that works for Alaska Airlines that may be able to ship an engine up here cheap if I can find one.
Thanks for all the info. The block tester in the video sells for $250 and since I don't plan to operate my own Rover shop I can't justify that kind of money. I was told a shop up in Anchorage sells Rover engines for $1900 but you only get a warranty if a licensed shop does the install.
Here's my next question, will the block from a GEMS motor work with the later Bosch heads and top end? I was thinking if I could find an older block from a D1 since the problem seems limited to the D2 I would just pull the current block and put on the heads and top end from the older engine.

I had no idea the Bosch motors had the problems they do. Really glad I don't own a D2 now but still thinking of trying to track down a GEMS block and throwing back together with the Bosch intake and heads. I'm willing to take the chance since I'd be spending dad's money and not mine. Of course if it didn't work I would inherit a broken D2 and a big bill.
