Default engine removal

I'm pulling the engine out of my 2000 Disco because of a cracked block, I have a new engine almost ready to go. When pulling the engine can it be pulled leaving the transmission in the car or must both be pulled? On every other vehicle I have been able to pull just the engine but I thought I'ld ask earlier. Any advise to tricks on pulling the engine anyone can share with me would be appreciated. Thanks

Engine comes out without the transmission. Having done this I can't see that I could both get enough rise, or angle, to get them out together. As it was I removed the front tires to give me a little bit extra clearance on the crane. Maybe someone else else here got them out together, But I simply could not given my equipment.

When the engine was pulled on my 2000, the tranny remained in the vehicle. So your answer is a resounding yes!

Good luck!!!

Transmission stays in the truck. Remove the upper intake manifold, take out the engine mounts, drop the engine down to unbolt the upper transmission bolts.
