Default Engine shuts off

I have a 2000 disco with 103000 miles, i had the engine replaced at the rover dealership about 3500 miles ago. The problem now is around 10 or 15 minutes after I start the engine it will shut off and the dash lights up like when you've only turned the key halfway. I'm not sure if this is related to the engine temp but it typically runs fine until the engine is warmed up then after it shuts of, it won't start again until the engine has had a chance to cool, about 45 minutes later. Also, the engine has been surging irregularly but it only last for about half a second. I'm stuck on this one, ideas? thanks

Possible crank sensor failing.
If Rover put a new engine in your truck, you have a warranty and should get it in Monday.

Sounds like they dropped in a used engine, which is fine.
But like Mike said, take it back and have them check the crank sensor.
Have it towed if it wont run long enough to get it there.

The 1590 is an ABS/Rough road fault, might want to get that brake issue resolved.
How many miles on your truck, what have you done so far to track down the problem?
It will also most likely be a crank sensor, they fail quite often and don't always throw a code.

Worked perfectly. I found the new crank sensor at auto zone for 50 bucks (compared to the 150 they charge at the dealership) and just finished installing it. It was in a tough spot to reach and took about two hours from the time I got the truck up on the ramp to the time I stared it back up. thanks for the advice, saved me a bucnh of money and trip to the shop.
