Engine Sleeve question?
How do you know if you have a sleeve that has unbonded from the block? My number 3 cylinder has zero compression. I have someone tearing it down to replace the head gasket and the exhaust valves if needed. Will it be obvious if the sleeve it jacked up?

Once the heads are off it is really obvious if the liner has fallen. It's hard to explain what to look for with a fallen liner but if you see it you'll know. It will kind of look like a ridge around the cylinder wall where the top of the liner is. Pretty easy to feel with your finger. A fallen cylinder liner won't necessarily cause a loss of compression. The rings will still be tight against the cylinder walls even if the liner has fallen. Losing coolant into the cylinders would be a more likely sign of a fallen liner. Zero compression is more likely a bad valve.
