Engine whistle or whine while accelerating above 35 mph
I have a 2001 Discovery II SE with ACE and 73000 miles. About two weeks ago, we performed the 60K miles service, replacing all fluids in the vehicle with synthetic fluids, serpentine belt, guibo, air filter, lubed the joints, etc. Also, the drive shaft is new (within the last year or two) (by first owner/previous owner) and one of the U joints has been replaced and we greased it. The other three u-joints and the CV joints were in great shape (possibly replaced with the drive shaft). The valve cove gaskets, spark plugs, and wires were also replaced.
My issue right now is, above about 35 mph on accelerating, I have a whistle/whine from the engine that gets louder when accelerating. I do not notice it once I am on the freeway, nor below 35 mph. I also cannot recall if this occurred before the service was completed. I have done quite a bit of research on here, and it sounds like it could possibly be a water pump, or some bearings. When we changed the fluids (diff, transfer, ATF), everything looked great under the truck. This vehicle is also warranted under an extended warranty through Land Rover until 100K miles. So if this is something major, I would like to get it to them to be documented asap.
I drive this vehicle every day, and I really want to get this checked out. I am pretty mechanically inclined, and I have the Bentley’s shop manual here. Can anyone give me some advice on what to look for or has anyone had a similar issue?
Thank you much for your help.

It sounds like you have a vacum hose disconnected. They will make a whistling noise when the engine rpm is increased. Look around under the hood fora hose that isdisconnected.
No, if you had a vacuum hose disconnected, you would get a check engine light also.
Did you replace the idler pulley and belt tensioner when you did the serpentine belt?

That isn't entirely true. The vacum hose to my cruise control was off after I replaced an intake gasket and I never got a check engine light. While I do agree that you will get a light if certain ones are disconected or leaking it isn't true that they will all cause the light and may just cause a whistling noise when the engine RPM is increased. Doesn't hurt to look.
