I'm up for a beer in denver and you probably know this but aside from some snow wheeling (very much not my thing unless it's fresh snow) CO is overwhelmingly snowed in or closed until summer. There are a few options out there with little to no snow but few and far between.

Oh wow that is a bummer. So should I skip Colorado or are there any trails worth hitting? Seems like snow wheeling would be fun but I’m from Florida so no idea what I am getting into.

Look up chinaman gulch, that and there's a handful near CO Springs that are open year round. I haven't run Chinaman's yet but it's on my list and I'm willing to bet it's harder than the guides say now with how much traffic the trails here have seen in the last 2 years. But yea wheeling out here is very limited until at least memorial day if not 4th of july, especially if you want to go above treeline. Snow wheeling is just get stuck get pulled out and see if you can go any further lol or it's packed and icy and not worth sliding around. Have a few friends who have rolled or incurred major body damage snow wheeling (good drivers and just got unlucky, hard to walk the entire trail to see if it's icy or not..)

All right - looks like I am being too aggressive with my schedule and colorado during winter are probably not a good fit. I will have to hit that area in september.

For now, I'll just focus on Moab and Grand Staircase.

Bars leak head gasket repair? It would be nice if there was a nationwide network of Discovery owners in each state that could provide some help or other service of some kind, for travellers

I'd add a jack stand or two plus a floor jack in case you need to do parking lot work or even smooth trail repairs. That's just my affliction to a highlift...use it when needed but rarely my first choice. I'd replace the heater hoses before coming as that's a random spot that usually gets overlooked when overhauling cooling systems. I carry a gallon of coolant, oil, and probably should add some gear oil or trans fluid to the box as well. I'd look into a D1 or classic trans pan so you can have a dipstick to check periodically and makes it way easier to top off/fill if need be.

I don't know if this was mentioned already: short plastic hose, brake fluid and nanocom (or similar tool that lets you reset the 3 amigos). 3 amigos happened to me on a trail last year. I bled the brakes, but could not reset the ABS, so I had to continue without ABS/TC/HDC. Later at home I could simply reset the ABS and the amigos were gone once for all. I wished I had brought a nanocom with me.

Maybe a couple spark plugs and wires. Selection of light bulbs and fuses.

FYI. On D1s, if the dash battery light burns out, the charging system stops working. Don't know if same for D2s.

Happy trails!
