Just wondering where to start looking for inconclusive evap on obdII. Gas cap?
I have a green light for IM ready, no codes, just an INC for the evap system on my scanner.
Just replaced the cats and was getting a yellow "!" before because it registered INC for the Cats and the evap. Now the cats are OK, just the evap, but I have a green light. Just mainly curious what's throwing that INC.

 

Normally, the evap system, takes the longest to complete its readiness. Did you clear codes recently? Mine takes 3-7 days after clearing codes.

 

Maybe 3-4 days ago I got a CEL the first time in a long time. It was a 1415 SAI code. I cleared it and it did not come back. Then I had the "!" for the Cats and Evap. Replaced the cats and about 100 miles later the Cats checked ok. Now just the evap.

Guess I was thinking something in the evap had failed or something to trigger it. I'll give it some more time. Thanks

 

Idling the vehicle is the fastest way to set the monitors. There is also a drive procedure that takes place at various speeds and number of gear shifts. Let it idle for 15 min, drive it for 20 and then idle for another 10 and it should work. It needs an uninterrupted drive cycle to set. If you stop short it will start all over again and will only set after many drive cycles.

 

Thanks. What I don't get is what triggered it? I usually think of evap codes as a leak in the fuel system somewhere.

 

When you clear codes it resets the monitors.
