Tried the long cap from my 2000 in the 2003 reservoir and seems loose, like if the o-rings were worn out/not contacting. Tried the shallow cap in the 2000 : feels right to tighten.
Hmm strange. My 2004 had the same cap as my 2002, which is the same cap as your 2000. Ended up replacing the tank with the aluminum one from Carrs that comes with a billet cap, which I can't recommend highly enough should that be an option for ya.
