Default Every gear is neutral

Im pretty sure my tranny blew up. While on my way to the range i heard a loud pop sound and lost all power. Soon after the tranny section sounded like a can with rocks in it.

So my question is how easy is it to swap/rebuild a tranny?

I dont know how much you know(%99 more than me lol) about these trouble makers, but when I had low oil(actually no oil) in the transfer case due to a leakage, my DII did things similar to what you say.
I was on highway and it shook the whole car and made pretty loud grinding noise and it switched to neutral or acted like it was in neutral.
Some gear oil solved my problem(again, thanks to the forum members for helping me at that time).
I hope your problem is as easy to solve!

Are you certain it's the transmission and not the transfer case? Have you tried using low range?

Not 100% sure until i drop em both but in low or high range, locked or or unlocked (cdl) i have nothing. I revved it up when it first happened at dead stop and got allot of vibration in the mid section. i have already ruled out the front drive shaft .

Sounds like maybe the transfer case. I have seen a lot of them go BANG! and just quit.

Can't see photos, but have you been under it while someone tries to accelerate? If either of the propshafts are moving then it's probably a diff or half shaft

Did you remove the inspection plate on the bottom of the tranny and take a look?

Remove the rubber grommet/plug on the backside of the oilpan, put a wrench on the crank and spin the engine to check the flex plate. They break all the time
