Default Exhaust System Q for my stupid mistake

So my overall question is " If I buy this new complete exhaust system will it help with the troubles I've been having with my Disco II?"

About at the end of August in 2012 I purchased a flowmaster 40 series for my LR. My ex cut my stock exhaust about where my driver door is, and welded on the flowmaster. But with no piping or anything was welded on to make a tail pipe or whatever to come out the back, it just ended where the flowmaster was. He told me it should of been fine and I trusted him because he was more mechanically inclined than me. And I will admit I'm a female that doesn't know too much about what's good for a vehicle or what is not.

Anyways, over a year later in early December of 2013 I started noticing something wasn't about right with how it ran. I would turn it on and it would back fire, and it would sound deep and rough, it would feel like the power was cutting short while I was driving (putting gas into it) , when I would be cruising at about 40 or on the highway it would feel like it would jolt, like Thomas the train trying its hardest to chug chug on.. and hills were worse. And the "service engine soon" started blinking. It would have good days though, where it wasn't too bad driving..

I took it in months later when I had gotten the money to fix it. The mechanic believed it was my coil pack (btw he worked for a European shop recommended by Land Rover themselves) He replaced my coil pack and I got it back. I started it up and everything was fine, it ran like it used to before it had taken a crap on me.

But after about a week or 2 I took a trip to Port Angeles which is a distance of 106 miles. It was fine until when I got into the town of Port Angeles it felt like it was running a little rough again (nothing extremely noticeable) . When I started it up to go home about 4 to 5 days later, it started running how it used to run.

SO AGAIN, I ask.. if it is a good investment to put into a new full complete exhaust system. The flowmaster has been the only modification I have done, besides 32 tires.. It ran fine like it used to when I had my coil pack changed, so is my exhaust the reason why it has gone back to running like crap again..?

Help! So I have a better idea of what to put money into.

Go to the local auto parts store and have them read the codes on "Thomas", then post the codes up in this thread. That will give better direction to the source of your problems.

OBD2 connector is located near drivers right side foot, that is where they will connect the code reader.
