If you're looking to pick a fight with Land Rover owners on a Land Rover forum, then I would suggest you leave. Yeah, people sometimes give sarcastic remarks. However, how you react to it is your problem, not others'. Spike is right. It's just a machine. If you're gonna be passionate about something, make it important to you. But don't sit there being passionate (arguing) over something so insignificant as a truck. Just sell the truck and leave us alone.

the X type is pretty much bullet proof according to my many friends and experts on the x type forum. no need for drive shafts head gaskets, knocking engines broken door locks broken sunfoofs, 02 problems, MAF problems, ECU problems..etc etc etc etc
none of your answers have any validity and i'm shocked that rather than help me out you just badmouth the jag and say how fine the LR is.
IMHO the LR is a piece of ****e. Crappy gas milage, and ugly to boot. The only off roading i would do in it is over a high cliff.
Have any of you actually owned an X type?...i highly doubt it.
Well thanks for your stupid answers. each one absolutely no use to me.
I'm done....don't waste your time with more answers to this thread...its time to take down my ebay classified ad and throw it in an auction
thanks again

LMAO...You think this is rough? Try D-web or Pirate...
i reflect spikes sentiment. i handle my cars/bikes/trucks as tools. if its broke i fix it. if i am scared to break it then i will turn my man card in. too many guys here act like women and are always worried about breaking something.
on a day to day basis nothing is unreliable. when something becomes unreliable in my experience, it is solely because the owner/s did not do the little things along the way to keep things reliable. starting the truck on a cold day and shoving the tranny into drive before the engine has fired all 8 cylinders and smashing the gas, using the cheapest gas you can find, and never ever lifting the hood or changing the fluids are all very bad things.
clean the drains, grease the hinges, and lube the parts that need it. pay attention to crap in the sunroof pans. clean the leather and electronics. power wash the chassis. when something breaks, fix it. dont ignore it. do these things along the way and a machine will last 100 years.
a vehicles own worse enemy is its owner. remember that and then decide what kind of owner you are.

This is 100% how I treat my truck, hell, I dont even take my eyes off the dash until the oil light goes out.
If its sat more than 4 hours I dont even put my seatbelt on until the idle has settled down.
Then I drive it very very conservatively until the temp needle reaches the bottom mark on the gauge.
I wont even get on the expressway until the temp gauge is in the normal range.
Check the oil once a week, lube locks and hinges every 6 months and rinse the winter road salt off of the under carriage every spring.
YouTube - Down by the river
And if it breaks, I fix it.
If it makes noise, I investigate.
If it ain't broke, I dont fix it.
X2, I was thinking the exact same thing. Try this thread on D-web and you'll get called every name in the book. Tard is G-rated compared to what D-web will call you. haha
To the OP... dude... you even told us it was a Lemon, you got yourself into a money pit and now you hate it. I would too. Not every Disco is a lemon... they certainly have their quirks, but I'd take mine across country right now. Many of us like these things because they offer so much more than your everyday SUV or boring sedan, you're kind of barking up the wrong tree if you wanted us to sing praises of a Jaguar X-type and kick our LR's to the curb...
oh well... enjoy the sedan.

sunroof post was made before your dumbass comments.
like i said b4...if only posts requiring help received so many replies
t'was a lemon, but a free lemon is not a money pit
i apologise for having generous wealthy friends, i didn't mean to make you jealous
believable or not...it's true. Put an end to this saga already...go and hang out on craigslist rants and raves where you belong...forums are for helping people
I asked for help, you all decided to take the OP the wrong way and turn it into something its not.
For the record i'll repeat...all i wanted was to help someone understand how a luxury car becomes unreliable after 60k miles...which is a FACT...i was not bashing LR's, quite the opposite
I have put very little $ into this car...just time, most cash has been spent or regular service items...just like any car...not one of you has understood this post or my reaction to your answers...typical of the "herd mentality"
what a bunch of low class, nasty, egotistical people you are...i'm sad to have helped some of you in the past.
i better go brush my 1 remaining tooth..this has left a s h i t e taste in my mouth
