Default Explain this lifting to me

I may be getting a discovery 1 soon and don't quite understand what it takes to lift these?

I need at least 3 inches of lift but hear about issues with that.

So what needs to be done for a 3-4.5" lift?

I understand the panhard bars
I understand the brake lines, somewhat, how hard is it to extend these?

And yes I absoultely need 3+ inches of lift

If you are shooting for over 3"s then , http://www.rovertym.com/ is where you need to start. Old Man Emu will go to 3"s with their coils and extended shocks, but that is all.
Let us know if you have any more questions.

That's where I was planning on going, well it was the first place I checked out anyways.

Well I do have more questions is it as simple as new adjustable panhard bar and extending brake lines?

double cardon shaft
maybe extended abs lines (d1 has abs, right?)
radius arms
over 33s means new gears
etc etc

no but if you then disconnect your sway bars you might want to get extended lines to be safe.

Get the heavy duty mounting rings for the shock mounts up front. Also get those I forget what they call them, but they are round rubber spacers that go around the base of the new coils. If your hardware is not the best, get new bolts, nuts, etc. and look at the condition of your bushings as well while you are tearing everything apart.

3" shouldn't be a problem. Some people have found with 3" they need a lot of add-ons to get steering back to normal and to deal with other issues like driveline vibration which can't always be solved with just a DC propshaft.

If you have never owned a Disco, drive it for 6 months to a year before you start throwing a lift under it to see how it does. A nearly stock Disco does quite well off-road.
I'd get a winch before a lift. A winch will get you through a lot more than a lift will.
