A few weeks ago I was involved in a discussion, that turned into a debate; that ended up in a argument...resulting in me being banned for a few days.

I am a 53 year old retired Marine; I am not built to “back down”; I am also, by nature, an argumentative *******; but, I am mindful of always treating others as I am treated.

I have notice numerous times in these forums that good people asking important questions are often treated as if they are less intelligent, and in some cases ignorant because of the question they have asked. It gets frustrating seeing the same questions being asked time and time again, “what Are the largest tires can I use on stock setup”; “how come my floor / roof is wet”...etc, etc. And then every expert in the world comes out to have a wonderful conversation...BUT whenever a much deeper or more serious question is asked....you get treated like an idiot, or “check the RAVE” is the only response you get.

This forum, and diy forums in general are by design created to give people help; and when people purposefully try to intimate that those people speaking that help are less intelligent, or that they are incompetent, or lazy because they are asking questions.....it diminishes what the the forum is here for.

It gets frustrating; it gets monotonous...and it becomes demeaning; especially when the people who instigate the hatefulness aren’t held responsible....and in my case I was punished for defending myself and taking a stand.

I am not making any excuses for my comments or behavior....I made them, I own them. But I also feel like the “demand” for respect is a two way street, regardless....you can’t expect someone to be courteous and congenial to someone who is being a dick; and then punish people for standing up for themselves.

I apologize for blowing up; for dragging the atmosphere of the forums down with the conflict....I will not however apologize for defending myself or for returning, in kind, the same level of respect I was shown by individuals, who I feel go out of their way in thread after thread to be antagonistic and acrimonious to people, just to get **** started.

So, again I apologize for blowing up....

It is the internet, every site like this tends to get it's fair share of troll and idiots,we have had one notable one here and they were on another forum as well. Like everywhere else they sour the environment for others.

Stuff happens, hopefully you will find this site useful and generally welcoming in troubleshooting issues going forward.
