Exploding seat belt buckle?
What a week. Yesterday I drove to my new job about 20 mins fromy my house, and I parked the truck. I didnt realize that I parked in a handicap zone, and got in to move the truck when, BOOM! There was a loud POP and smoke was coming from under my drivers side seat near the center console. I looked for the culprit, but didnt see anything suspicious. This morning I got in to go to work again, and my seat belt buckle was visible askew. It was lower than the passenger side, and I am womdering if its okay? Has anyone else ever heard of this, it scared the bajesus out of me when it happened. My windows amd oower seats still work just fine
Sounds like the pre-tensioner charge in your seatbelt has fired.
Have to admit, that might be the first time I've ever heard of this happening in any vehicle, let alone a Rover.
The fix is to install a replacement buckle. Talk to Paul Grant, I'm sure he has a few.
