Default Extended roof rails

So, I can get the extensions for roof rails from BPutah. But.... They don't fit onto the fatter roof bars on my 04.

I need to carry lengths of timber and sheets of plywood around. Not 40 gallons of fuel and a roof tent.

What's my best option. Can I remove the fatties, sell them, buy a skinny set with extensions? I think I rather that than some other form of gutter fitting system. I also have to keep as super low as I can, garage door height and all..

Any problems with fitting skinnys onto my 04?

I like the looks of the 04 rails way better, maybe you can figure a way to keep them and add something to carry lumber.

If you do end up swapping to the skinny ones, I have an excellent set and we could trade.

as far as I know it's a direct swap.

I know what you mean about the bigger rails looking better. Just so impractical. Wonder if I could fit two bars across the fatties, then one gutter mounted bar at the back.

Abran might of just beat me to it. He might decide against the idea, for some odd reason.

Nicely spotted though.

Get a small trailer for the same price. 4X8 trailer for a couple hundred used and haul your wood. Home Depot and Lowes offer trailer rental for under $20.

Haha.

Trailer wouldn't be such a bad idea. I don't have a tow attachment though.

Looking on the etrailer.com. I think the rhino rack bars are 280 ish. Which isn't insane.
