Default Extensive Rust - How to Proceed?

Hey everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster. I've caught the Rover bug from my dad. Growing up we had a '91 Classic, a p38 (I think 99), and a Disco 2. He's recently retired and has gifted me a 2003 Disco 2. It's a bit of a Frankenstein (like all his cars), with lots of extensive work done and numerous parts taken from junked Discos.

Anyway, she has a rebuilt engine, like-new interior, and honestly runs like a beaut.

However...

The rear-end rust situation is at critical mass. I'm not sure how possible it is to repair this kind of rust damage. It's bad.

The surface rust is one thing and I plan on taking care of that myself, but the chassis is f*cked.

What's the next course of action? Try to find a better rear chassis at the junk yard? Or have someone cut & weld in new parts? How much do ya think either option will run?

I'm sure it'll cost nearly as much as the whole car is worth but the emotional connection to this vehicle is strong, and since it was a gift there's cash in the coffers for repairs (which should go without saying...Land Rover and all...).

Any and all advice is super appreciated!
