External Headgasket oil leak?
Really, they fail that early? Definitely would like avoid trading her in. I see what you're saying about the VW thing, but a routine timing belt job is a bit more straight forward than a head gasket job. I would do the work myself, just not looking forward to it at all. How much can I expect to pay for the parts? Head gaskets, intake gaskets, valve cover gaskets etc with both heads getting a resurface?
If you do it all yourself...$500.
www.atlanticbritish.com for all of your parts.
Doing head gaskets on a LR is a weekend job if you are good at turning wrench and have all the proper tools.
A week if you are a novice.
I dont know man, I would rather do head gaskets on a Rover than a timing belt on a front wheel drive car. lol

I'll plan on setting around $500 aside as well as a weekend to get this thing done. I did a head gasket job on my ol' 5.0l Mustang in a about 2 days so I think I can get it done on this thing just as fast. I'll probably just watch how things progress, check the fluids regularly and do the job when necessary. Thanks again for your guys' help! One last thing though, is it worth pulling the motor to do this, considering the ride height of the vehicle? It looks like the extra effort might be worth the hassle or it may not???
