Default Falcon throttle heater body bronze replacement

I have a leak at the throttle heater body gasket area. Last repair was almost 4 years ago with the factory replacement part.

I searched the threads and seen discussions on the delete option. I respect the suggestions, but I prefer to replace the gasket due to the cold northern weather.

I hear the brass option offered by Falcon Works may be the way to go:

Throttle Body Heater plate, bronze upgrade, V8 Discovery & P38a

Has anyone tried this part in the past and can provide comments please?

Thanks!

God Bless all the 5.3L V8's up north that don't even come from the factory with a "Throttle Body Heater".....

IMHO it's overkill & LR's German attempt at it is pathetic. However if you choose to stick with it the only real options are live with it being a poorly engineered part and replace it when it leaks or spend the $$$ on that Falcon Replacement.

What are the options for bypassing the Throttle Body Heater? Can the fittings be capped and the lines patched together to bypass it completely?

Yes. Simple bypass.

Mercy, that Falcon part is high priced for a relatively insignificant part.

There is no need to connect the lines together. All that is needed is to remove the hoses from the TBH, insert appropriately sized bolts into the hoses, and then use small hose clamps to seal them.

If you look at the RAVE cooling system diagram you will see that the TBH circuit serves no other purpose.

I've run my truck like this for several years.

Don't overcomplicate it; you don't need to connect the two TBH lines; just plug them.

Sorry for hijacking this thread. Last question about bypassing the TBH..

So, I can just cap lines 6 & 7 in the RAVE diagram below and it will bypass the TBH completely? Do I also need to cap the TBH inlet and outlet or do these become obsolete with no lines hooked to them?

Thanks guys

Yes, cap 6 and 7 and no, you don't need to do anything with the TBH inlet and outlet.

I run a coolant line directly from the intake manifold to the coolant reservoir. Then I completely remove the dang throttle body heater assembly and toss it into the nearest trash can.

That's how I bypass it, blocking both lines also works if you wanna go that route, but I prefer a more OEM looking approach.
