while driving the panty dropper today with the family out to dinner, I kept getting the red brake light on the top left of the the instrument cluster intermittently. It would pop on and pop on and pop off pretty quickly. No codes popped up and no issues seemed to cause it and no irregularity in the driving or braking function. Any thoughts or ideas guys and gals?

 

Your brake fluid is low. Top it off and look for a leak, the master cylinders are notoriously leak prone,

 

Well you were correct. I had the kit in the shed and when ahead and did it today and did the option b on the shuttle valve abs mod. Did a few other things also to get the engine bay cleaned up. Only thing I have left is the power steering flush.

Well that's an understatement!!!! Everything looks great.
Oh, and thanks for confirming that I should have went with the blue spark plug boots on my STIs.

 

i know when I did the top end rebuild, I put them all to a wire wheel and even coated them in oil. Thinking about removing them and having them powder coated also

 

i went with the kingsborne wires and got em all at the same time. It's snake oil but helps keep some of that heat off of it

 

When are you going to do the "oil drip pan" mod?

 

Another culprit for that intermittent light, if your fluid is NOT low, is the sensor float losing buoyancy. Replace sensor.

 

I wasn't the sensor but the 2 dang rubber rings the resivoir sits in and now it's all good. Had the wife pump up the brakes and I bled em and then my son hit the horn button while I was doing it and scared the **** out of me but all is well now
