Ok, can somebody start their truck and open their hood and feel if their clutch fan moves air when the engine is idling?

I think that when I repalced my fan clutch that I put the fan back on backwards, I would just pop it off, turn it around and then try it myself but I dont have the tools to remove it handy so this is the next best thing.

What are you asking? flipped either way it will pull air in the same direction, unless you accidently switched the way your engine turns.You might need to get that checked by a professional car fan expert.

Fan expert I am not, what you say makes sense, but yet I still wonder.
Either my fan clutch is bad, the fan is backwards or I am smoking some really good stuff.

When I watch the engine run and the fan spin it looks like it is pushing air through the radiator rather than pulling it through.
Another way to put it is it looks like the front of the blades are hitting the air and not the backs of the blades which is what would pull air through the radiator.
I ask because even though my temp gauge reads nomal, my electric fans stay on after I shut it off when I get home from work and my scanner reads engine temps around 220*F after I pull into my driveway and park, it also reads 210*F going down the expressway at 65mph with the A/C on.
The electric fans have never stayed on after shut down before, now it is hot, upper 90's all week, but for the last 2 summers the fans have never done this even after off roading for 8 hrs in August with the A/C on full.
So, either you can put the fan on backwards or my fan clutch is bad.
I just got my scanner a month ago so i have never had this info before.

 

I think I answered my question, I Googled "engine fan" and was looking for a pic with the orientation of the fan, found this instead.
Maybe I am not a big idiot after all? No, wait, I am.

spike i thought you new everything there was to know about rovers. obviously I was making a joke, but i just looked at the fan and the blades are not strait, more like a "j" so i could see how reversing it may not scoop and pull the air as efficiently. seriously i thought you knew everything.how long have you been into rovers?

 

What were you doing, anyway, that you just happened to pull your fan off and reverse it.

 

I had to replace my fan clutch as it was siezed, that was back in March? So It has not been hot here until these last weeks, the fan bolts to the clutch and when we put the new clutch onto the fan we must have turned the fan over.

I have been into Rovers ever since I was 12 or so, I am now 37.
I know enough about Rovers to be dangerous, but the orientaion of the fan is one of those grey areas, ya know?
