Default Fault codes - Help needed please...

Evening all,

Got the three Amigos come up on my Disco 2 (ABS, Traction Control and Hill descent warning lights). so out came the Hawkeye and it has thrown up these fault codes -

4130 - Rear left height sensor out of range (Short or broken wire)
4131 - Rear right height sensor out of range (Short or broken wire)
4150 - Rear left (power amp with electrical connection interrupted)
4151 - Rear right (power amp with electrical connection interrupted)
4152 - Exhaust (power amp with electrical connection interrupted)
4153 - Compressor (power amp with electrical connection interrupted)

That all sounds to me like a bad connector or bad earth...But where??
Anyone got any idea where i can start looking, or if you've got another idea of what it all could mean??
Any help with this would be really appreciated.

Thanks Steve.

Time for the RAVE circuits manual and electrical troubleshooting guide. A quick view of the drawings for the SLABS system shows the compressor and valves share a common ground, C0811 (bottom right corner of that page, which is page 68 in manual). That connector location is shown in attached. Also, on page 69 of the manual, the height ensors appear to be directly connected to the SLABS ecu, no ground, but they do use a group of connectors shown C0391, 392, 390, 376, etc. which are right together under the hood at fuse box. See pix attached.

Of course, it could be other points in the wiring, so if you have a cable that has melted, skinned insulation, etc., that could also be a problem.

Note - when reading the schematic "road map" the small numbers at ends of wires indicate a connector and pin number. Over in the electrical guide, the conectors are listed, usually with a pix of location. From world's cleanest Rover.

Go to RSWsoultions and read their code list and what to do.

Thanks for your input so far...
Just realised, all these fault codes refer to vehicles with SLS or ACE...well mine hasn't!! it's coil sprung so has no height sensors or compressor.
Would this then point to a faulty SLABS ECU??
Can it be reprogrammed with a Hawkeye??

Yes, you can reprogram the ECU to shut off the SLS system.

UPDATE -
Hooked the Hawkeye up again, went through the ABS programming menu, and sure enough it was set up for Airbags not coils!!! Changed back to coils and cleared the codes and all seems good (only drove a couple of miles though)
I've had the car for a little over two years now though and that's the first problem i've had with it...seems strange, if it was set for airbags why didn't i have any problems before??
Surely the ECU couldn't have just changed it's settings by itself...
Anyway, all seems good at the minute so thanks for all your help and advice.
If there's any development i'll be sure to let you know..haha.. lets hope not though...
Thanks
Steve.

re: Surely the ECU couldn't have just changed it's settings by itself...

Electrical gremlins, weak battery, poor ground, or just passing within wifi range of the dealership, where new codes are broadcast daily...

BTW, will that Hawkeye let you turn off immobilization and other pesky "advanced features" ?

Umm, i think it will, though don't quote me on that...
I only bought it when i got these warning lights so haven't really dug into it that deep yet, but it does seem to do a lot of advanced programming as well as fault code reading etc.

Ok, so latest update -

Took the car out and 3 amigos return, Grrr
Plugged the Hawkeye in again and this is my fault code now.

4084 - HISTORICAL Sensor Right Hand Front (intermittent sensor output during driving, broken wire)

If i clear the fault codes and rescan, it says no faults...(and no lights)
Then go for a drive, lights come on at some random point (not just straight away) rescan i get that fault again...
So is this all down to a broken sensor??
Is it reporting it as 'historical' because it's an intermittent fault that resets when i switch the ignition off and on again??

Sorry to keep on with this, and i really do appreciate all your input...
I'm a pretty competent spanner man, but not with electronics and diagnostic systems...

Examine connector C0517, attached pix from RAVE. This is a two wire connector between the RH ABS sensor and the ECU. In the RAVE circuits manual you will find the wiring map (just like an old road map, colored lines lead between junctions). At each end of a wire, there are small numbers that indicated connector and pin number. In the separate Electrical Troubleshooting Guide you'll find a connector list with locations and usually pictures of a ridiculously clean Rover.
