Default few questions

I have a 96 discovery with factory keyless entry and my remote is having problems. When i first got it the remote locked and unlocked my truck but only if I was very close, now the unlock button does not work but the lock will but again i have to be close. anyone know why this is happening? also i just need to know where my power steering fluid is I need to add that lucas treatment. thank you

Try new batteries and clean the buttons contacts, should help, if not time for a new remote.

sounds like the battery is dead in your remote.... the power steering fluid is on the right side of your engine it has the steering wheel on the cap. check the fluid level marks on the left side of the tank before over filling it. and download the RAVE manual its the workshop manual for your truck you will see it posted in people signatures.

if i replace the battery will it need to be reprogramed or no? also how do i replace the battery? there is no slot or anything. I have this remote:

You take a small flat blade screw driver and stick it in the slot on the side of the remote and pop it open.
As long as you replace the battery within 5 min it wont have to be re-programmed.
3032 is the part number for the battery if I remember right.

thanks got it replaced and changed the battery as well as checked the button connections. both buttons work now but only up close. I literally have to go to the window for it to work and i dont know why

Maybe a new remote is in order.

are u sure its the remote spike? I think it might be the truck.. try replacing the truck, that might work.
