I agree with the bad pump theory. There are a couple of pumps I can't use because of the same problem. It's really odd that one pump would be so much different from another, but it seems to work that way. If I'm traveling and stop at a pump that shuts off after a few seconds, I don't even keep trying. I just drive to a different pump to finish filling and then everything works OK.
