i woudl do a 60k maitenance on it (all fluids), i would switch the oil to Rotella T6, make sure you get that drive shaft rebuilt before it destroys the truck.

After a complete service then i would look at the truck and see if there are any problems still existing.
I'd like to get some expert eyes on it. Anyone local to the tri-state that you know and trust?

Thank you sir! I will sniff around a bit as well. I am tight with all the dealers, so maybe I could get one of them to at least check it out for me on the cheap. Would they rebuild the driveline with the greasable units you think, or just use regular parts?

The propshaft rebuild was actually kind of a breeze. The ball in the double cardan joint was a bit of a pain but the u-joints were gravy. The Neapco units were like $12 each at NAPA, USA made. Rebuilt the whole unit in the shop for about $40 and now it's greasable. :-)

Cool. Now that it is full of snow, salt and sand I will crawl under there tonight and take a look! I should have thought of that beforehand!

The u-joints are Neapco 1-0005, just have them search the number. It's for a Volvo 240 or something. They won't have a listing for them on your truck as Land Rover considers that prop shaft a non serviceable assy. The ball joint is a Precision 617 and can be a mother to get out. I got the ball banged out and shrank the race with the arc welder to pop it out. If the ball looks nice and clean with no damage, and you manage not to loose any of the needle bearings, just grease it back up and go. ;-) Look at the nipple on the shaft and make sure it's not messed up too.

Nice buy!

I have to chime in on your signature. Saw your list of cars and laughed. I have 2001 Disco and 2007 CX-9. I am currently in the market for an Audi S4.

Too funny! Great vehicles!
If you have any questions about the Audi, just let me know! I'm very involved with them including racing, clubs, etc. I just got back from 3 hours of playing in the snowstorm. You will seriously not find a car with a mix like that! 145 on the track and beating Porsches in the summer and able to go out in 8" of fresh powder and drift all night long! This was just after getting home a few minutes ago. The car was spotless when I left. All the snow was from a few hours of sideways driving and back road/parking lot fun!

This was a road I went up and down with no issues... dragging under the car the whole way it was so deep. I have summer wheels, and then use the stock ones with Dunlop Wintersport tires... unreal!
