Default Finally got my Disco

I've been looking at a Disco for a year now. I've tried out 4 of them but I finally found one with good history. It's a 2001 SE7 with only 58,900 miles on it. I purchased it from the original family that bought it new. It had a new water pump, hoses and heater core done by Land Rover dealer in 2009 at 41k, never been in an accident and always garaged. The only thing wrong with it is the drivers window regulator needs replaced and the CD changer has the magazine stuck in it. I thought it was a terriffic buy at $5,800.

I plan to do Disco Mikes 60k mile service, fix the window regulator, cd changer and upgrade to some 255/70-16 tires.

For the CD changer: Disconnect the power switch to the changer for a few minutes, then reconnect. See if that resets the changer. I have been having problems with my changer every so often for the past few years: no disc error, no magazine error, magazine won't eject, etc. Only once have I had to remove the changer for disassembly to remove a stuck magazine. Every other time the problem has been cleared by either repeated cold booting of the changer, or lightly rapping on the magazine with a screwdriver handle while it powers up.

Looks like a good score. Looks almost exactly like mine when I bought it (less the SE7) and color looks slightly lighter than mine.

I took the CD changer out today and took the cover off. It was just a stuck CD, only took about 1/2 and hour. I just raised the seat all the way up and forward. I was able to remove the 4 nuts and take the unit out from the back. I'll tackle the window next weekend.

Two odd items of service you may want to consider: lube both ends of the hood release cable (one guy had his break off, had to cut thru grille to unlatch); and new battery (move old one to another vehicle if you think it still has life in it). The D2 has so many modules that all talk to each other, and a security system designed by the British Intelligence Service, Major Payne Diass. Lots of gremlins go away with a tip top battery.

Of course download the full RAVE tech and owner's manual set, has wiring diagrams in color and color photos of connector locations, etc. Free link below.

I agree on the battery change, I have to change mine every 2 years or the dash lights up like a christmas tree.
