Default Finding a Bumper Cover...

So moving back to North Carolina I forgot how to drive in the ice and snow. Seems I destroyed my bumper cover. This insurance company did the estimate and after my mandantory contribution being taken out, there is not enough to buy a reconditoned cover. Does anyone know a place to find a great deal on a bumper cover? I m going to do the work myself, and eveything is intact say for the cover. Any advice will help. Thank you in advance.

I am looking for one too and plan to check out this company. I am assuming you have a Discovery II.

I think this information is valid but recommend confirming

Let us know how you do.

Is it your front or rear bumper that you need?

There are a bunch of good used wreckers that will have what you need, I bought a used rear cover from my local yard and it was only $120 and in great shape. I have bought from Parts Planet in Rancho Cordova CA. You need to haggle with them on the pricing but you can get a good deal.

What was the insurance company estimate? What are your eventual plans for the truck? I ask because I had a similar situation a couple of years ago. A truck shed a tire into my front bumper and destroyed it. The insurance company estimate was $2500+-. I got an ARB winch bumper from Rusty's Offroad for $1000, and still had $500 left over from the check. I didn't even have to pay anything out of pocket.

to add to what Rover Curious said, if you didn't want OEM and wanted to step up to a steel bumper contact Greg Davis over on Pirate4x4.com, he's local to me (Charlotte) I'm not sure what part of NC you are from but he builds some nice looking bumpers and will send them all over the US if need be. Google him and you'll see a few of his bumpers on people's rigs.

Thank you all for the input. Insurance quoted $459 for the cover itself. I am not sure if anyone has done some looking but you can't buy a bad one for that price. I do not understand how a part for the front on the truck is $500 plus. I can get a 2000 disco for $3000 all over craigslist.. It is just nuts to me.... I guess the were right in Econ class if there is a demand then the cost will be higher..
