Fire Extinguisher

Fire Extinguisher
I just saw another disco with a fire extinguisher. It looks like its built-in LR factory installation and not just the owners modification.
Does Discos suddenly burst into flames, like the old VW beatles of yore?
I just passed by a hardware store selling similar fire extiguishers, it just made me think about...
Do we need to install one just in case?
Thanks.

RE: Fire Extinguisher
...yeah, i was gonna say; i know you can get a "Land Rover" branded fire extinguisher but (of course) it's really expensive.
and like someone else mentioned... it's not that your truck is likely to catch fire at random but doesn't hurt to have as much safety gear on board as you have room for. some 4x4 parks and car shows actually require an extinguisher

RE: Fire Extinguisher
There are the occasional engine fires that happen, but they don't happen too often. I remember when one of the (NCLR) club members had a tip over. There were 2 kids on standby both holding fire extinguishers should anything go up, while the adults were working on the recovery efforts. After getting the front driveshaft rebuilt, the fire extinguisher was my first "mod".

RE: Fire Extinguisher
As we always say in the oil field, a fire extinguisher is an escape tool. If you can catch the fire right after ignition you maybe able to extinguish it before it gets too big. Once it gets too big you just use the extinguisher to fight down the flames enough to give you a way to escape. I always feel more comfortable having a fire extinguisher available on the outside chance I need it.
