I've jumped feet first into disco ownership after spending the last 10 years or so building high horsepower diesels. I had been looking for a while to have one as a project / weekend car and I finally found this one. I made a super low-ball offer that was surprisingly accepted and I brought it home a few months back.
I ended up with a 2004 black HSE with 85k on the odometer.
So far I've been spending most of my time going through and fixing all of the neglections from the previous owner.
Reseal Transfer Case
Oil Leak Fix
Window seals
Rubber window Trim
Headlight refinish
Stereo rewire
Heat gun faded plastic
Front-end steering component wear (tie rod ends, etc.)
ARB front bumper
voyager rack
Hella lights
Now I am looking to start doing the fun stuff.
I would really like to fit a 285/75R16 under there, I'm not a fan of the pizza cutters its currently on and the OME lift from the previous owner doesn't seem like it'll fit any larger tire than the 265/65R18's that are on there now. I have spent a lot of time researching but haven't found a definitive answer. Do I need to switch to a terrafirma 3" to get a proper fit without going crazy on trimming?
Has anyone tried the methods built for these things? The 701s.
Welcome to the group. Think you'll at least need a 2'' lift, but go 3"...it looks right and offers solid choices on tires. Especially, if you plan on loading down that rack and interior.
