I have a quick question!!! I have a 03 with a engine skid plate that has a removable access panel for removing the oil filter. EVERY TIME I change the oil the oil from the filter dumps ALL OVER the inside of the plate. Then when I drive (after TRYING to clean it up) the old oil flies back into the engine, undercarriage, ect.... What would you guys suggest to stop this from happening??? I have tried to remove the plate but this is a nightmare to do to just change the filter! Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks in advance!!!

It is designed that way, all of that oil is your rust proofing.

This is why everybody just removes that piece of plastic and sticks it in the rafters of their garage.

How about dropping the damn plug into the pan you're draining oil into, or not getting your hand out of the way quick enough, and having oil run down your arm and into your armpit? That sucks. How about dropping the flipping pan while pouring the old oil into the 5 gallon jug? Been there, done that.

Ah yes, nothing better than hot motor oil running down your arm.
As for dropping the drain plug into the drain pan...mechanics magnet. You know, the magnet on a teleoscoping rod.

With the DI if you run both passenger side wheels onto your ramps the oil will drain at a better angle and it is much easier to grease your u-joints and slip joints.

Before you pull the drain plug pull out your high school geometry book and calculate the projected flow of the waste oil and place your drain pan accordingly.
If you buy a box of serial killer gloves you can keep your hands nice and clean.
