I love to drive it better than my Overland Jeep.. well, except for yesterday when just driving along she started hopping and popping with 4 misfires out of nowhere.

I technically have 4 as well lol. A 98 D1 50th Anniversary LSE (techically an LSE7), 99 D2 SE7 ACE, 02 Kalahari, 03 (parts truck just needs engine work).

I'm honestly looking into selling the wife's H3 Alpha and either getting an LR3 or holding out for an 04 D2 SE7/HSE7. The H3 Alpha with the 5.3L V8, ARB Bumper, Thor Parts Rear Bumper, Gobi Stealth Rack & Ladder gets about 12-14MPG tops so a stock D2 actually gets better MPG. The only thing saving the H3 vs the D2 would be 87 octane fuel vs 93 octane so it kinda evens out in the end.

My wife and I are expecting our second little girl just before Christmas and while the H3 Alpha has been 150% reliable and absolutely flawless and a dream to own it's kinda small in the back seat area so we're looking to sell it, and my wife likes the LR3 and I'm all about D2's lol. We'd certainly come out ahead with a D2 vs the LR3 $$$ wise. Just gotta see how selling the H3 goes.

.........and looking for a DI XD or TreK. And a 2002 Kalahari.

....I'll sell my 03' or 04' when I find a G4.

Believe it or not, they have been very reliable to me over the years ~!

Agreeing on the ELM 327 but wifi — bluetooth doesn't play well with iOS (unless you have Android). And also on the mechanic's tools — but remember metric! Everything is metric.
My good breaker bar has become my best friend, you'll want one of those.

Hi, a good choice, but, you'll need to be either very rich and afford garages or enjoy car maintenance and enthusiastic with the ability to turn wrenches.

There are some essentials needed first:

A bundle of enthusiasm.

A copy of the LR RAVE Workshop Manual (free online here)

A good quality comprehensive tool kit.

A diagnostic scanner.

Some spare time most weeks.

Ask questions here online, these guys have the knowledge first hand and hard earned.

Good luck and enjoy
