Flashing M+S lamps, but cleared. Transient condition?
I have a friend that would shut off everything when he parked the park also. Could never figure it out because he would turn off the A/C before he got out when it was 110 in Phoenix then use the remote start on the truck when he returned. I always wondered what the point of remote starting the truck was if the A/C is off and therefore not going to be cooling the truck.
I had a 96 (or 97, don't remember) Saab 9000 that was one of the best cars I have ever owned. Of course that was pre-GM, I'm pretty sure. I would buy another Saab if I could find a Viggen. Saabs, like Rovers, are not for everyone.
Back to the original question, sounds like a belt to me also.

Silly, I suppose....
I've always turned everything off before I exit the car. The rationale is that it's easier on the engine and battery when I start it back up. Less load on the battery/alternator means more juice available to crank it over. At least that's how I've always looked at it.
I'll have to exlpore the serpentine belt idea. It looks new, but I haven't closely checked the underside for cracks.
I knew about the wiper switch but have to do some work on the Saab first. They eventually work, but I have to give the truck 10 minutes to warm up first.
Thanks.

Ok, I have to ask, why do yo0u tuen off the heater and radio before you turn the truck off?
Your squeak is probally a bad serpentine belt and it is not charging the battery fully now that it is cold out.
Replace the belt.
The wipers not working is a bad wiper switch, a common problem with DII's.

Bumping this for closure.
Almost one year after the problem first started popping up, it started throwing SES lamps and left me in limp mode.
Replacing the XYZ switch took care of the problem.
