Flashing oil light but oil is full...

I read on another forum that V8 Rovers are notorious for a flashing oil light @ idle - Anyone have experience with this?
The Disco now has about 76K on it.
This is the first time it's happened and it was only @ idle and switched off after I started driving (albeit only a block to my garage)
Not that this has anything to do with it but my front right tire had a flat the same day the light came on for the first time - I know it's a long shot but who knows with these beasts what is going to set them off *ha*
Would scanning for a code show if the oil pump is bad or do I just need to replace regardless.
It's my first LR, so I'm not sure I want to take the chance but I REALLY want to go Skiing tomorrow and don't really want to have to rent a RAV4!

Don't drive it until you check your oil pressures at various rpm's. You will kill your motor for sure.
Do a search for oil pressure and read up -- there's plenty of info about all this. I have never heard about the oil light glitches you're referring to, but I have heard plenty about people locking up engines when that little light is involved...
I hate to say it but keep the skis in the closet for now.

First do not use 5w-30 in your truck and if you are taking it to the quick lube I am sure thats what they are using.
Second get your oil pressure tested just like these other guys said.
Second, after that is done let us know what the numbers are.
Third '03's and '04's are notorious for oil pump failures.
Just do a search on the forum for "oil pump" or the like.
