Default Flat Tire

I should have known that if it took 3 hours to change a fuel filter that changing a flat tire would also be time consuming! Glad this happened in my driveway.... I went out and saw that my front right tire was flat. I got the tools out from beneath the rear seat and the bottle jack. Loosened the lug nuts and put the jack beneath the axle. The jack handle wouldn't move.. I had to put the thing in a vise and use a 4 foot breaker bar to work it loose. (it's covered in road salt, that doesn't help!!) Put it back under there and had to crank it a few times to get the air out of it before it would raise the tire. Went to take off the spare and had to use the lug nut wrench with a 4 foot breaker bar to get the nuts off. So after two hours, I changed a tire! Just glad this wasn't on the side of the road in the pouring rain.

Why use the spare? Your tire was only flat on one side, just turn it over. Just kidding. When you're doing your weekly or monthly checks and check the pressure in your spare also back off the nut holding it on the door and apply a little anti-seize. Do you check the pressure in your spare, don't you?

I checked it when I took it off. lol... but I do keep a 12v mini air compressor along with some tools in the back. Never know what could happen. The spare says "Michelin 4x4". Don't know if that's the original or not, but I do like the looks of it. I also like the steel rim they put it on, gives it more of a "Defender" look.

The tires on my disco are Michelin 4x4. Little noisy on the road. My spare has chunks of the tread missing though.

It has Continental Contitrac's on it now which the previous owner had bought and after reading thru the tire rack website, I can see they are one of the worst tires out there!! I have about 50% tread left so I'll probably buy a new set before winter. I'll search thru the forum and see what tires and opinions others have.
