Default Fog Light Switch Question

So, installing new fog lights on the Brit Part Bumper. A couple days ago, I stuck the wires in the original plug to test them, worked fine. I am wiring them up and now the binnacle switch no longer clicks. The rear fog light switch clicks.
Question is does the switch only click when the lights are hooked up and powered? Or is it a mechanical feature in the switch the that should work regardless of the electrical condition? It seems to be a pretty big coincidence if the switch happened to fail while I was wiring the fog lights..

Thanks for the help.

My binnacle switch doesn't "click" it's a momentary switch that bounces right back. All it does is send a "ping" to the BCU to energize the fog light circuit provided that at least the parking lights are on (yes, this means you can drive around with the fog lights on and headlights off). I'm not sure because I've never tested it, but your ignition might also have to be turned to the "ON" because the fog lights are controlled by the BCU and I'm not sure how active that is with the truck totally off. If you activate the high beams the fog lights will disable until the high beams are deactivated. Lastly, the fog lights don't "stick" between engine cycles, you have to turn them back on every time you restart.

I too have aftermarket fogs wired up directly to the stock fog light wiring.

You can program the BCU to allow fogs and high beams at the same time, but yes, the fog light switches themselves are only momentary.

Yep totally momentary on the factory fogs. I use the Nanocom and enable fogs on with Hi/Lo and I also turn off the seatbelt warning crap because when off roading it'll drive ya nuts. I wear my seatbelt but sometimes your in/out spotting or 100yd section takes 3hr to clear lol that's when I'm not wearing it.
