Default Which Ford Explorer viscous radiator fan fits the D2?

While watching Extinct's video about the electric fan conversion kit, he mentions that some people swap the OEM Discovery fan blade with a Ford Explorer fan blade. He did an air flow test and saw air flow improvements with the Explorer fan over the OEM Discovery fan.

I'm eventually going to buy the electric conversion kit but I would like to try the Explorer fan first, since it's going to be a cheaper and faster option and I need something quick.

Does anybody know the part number to the compatible Explorer fan blade? Either that, or the Explorer year/engine size the compatible fan blade is found in?

I found a post in this forum where a guy said he switched to the metal fan blade from a 1998 Explorer and saw a significant drop in engine temperature, but he didn't say if it was for the V6 or V8.

I figured this out years ago & it's the Dorman 620-112 fan blade.

Thank you. Did you swap to it, and if so did you see cooler engine temps?

I live where it will regularly be 100-110 degrees outside for the next 4-5 months, so I'm trying to do whatever I reasonably can to keep the Disco cooler.

I have used the non OEM Dorman 620-112 on all my D2's. That with a 180F thermostat, HD Fan Clutch, and FlowKooler waterpump work well.

Whenever I recommend something especially a non OEM part it has personally been tested/used by me on my own LR's. I never recommend something that I have not tested or had my hands on. No tiktok/facebook/youtube myths here. All tested and verified first!

What is an HD fan clutch?
I'm guessing heavy duty? If so, any particular brand that works best?

Hey Best,

Do you use the 1/2” spacer that comes with the Dorman fan?

Thanks!

Been running it al day. Haven’t really noticed a difference. Newish radiator, 180 in-line T stat, Koolfow pump. Typically runs between 183 to 190. So far, pretty much the same.
