Driving a different way to work this morning I found a Discovery 1 for sale. I stopped on my way home to check out the details. Didn't have any posted, so, only stopping for a second, I quickly looked at and took contact info. Black Discovery 1, 122k miles or so, some faded paint, some rips in leather, and an extra transmission in the back. I looked under and the transmission is still there, but missing cats & pipes from exhaust manifold to first muffler. Lots of tread on the tires and windshield "LR Certified" sticker. I called the owner only wanting to know the price. He said that that it was towed, not knowing permanent 4wd, killed the transmission and that the one in the back is a rebuilt. Now to price, he said he wanted $2500, I think, but said that he would take $1700 cash. This would be a great project, parts car, or transmission for your LR and sell off the rest. I will help out as much as I can if anyone else is interested. The Disco is in the Waco area. If interested PM me and I can get you the guys phone number.

Street Wolf needs the trmp sensor for his transfer case so he is willing to buy that.
Depending on how they towed it it either killed the t-case and or the transmission.
When you tow a vehicle with the wheels on the ground the engine needs to be running and the transmission in neutral otherwise it will over heat and destroy itself.
The t-case has no cooler and is splash lubricated so it can be towed all day long with no problems...as long as all four wheels are on the ground.
These people obviously know nothing about Rovers, had they put the t-case in neutral they could have towed it on a car dolly with no problems.

Sorry it took me a while to respond...I was traveling around Texas this weekend. Is anyone else really interested in knowing more info about this Discovery? I can take pictures tomorrow too if that would help anyone out. I just don't want to have to call this guy back and give him "more" false hope if anyone isn't really interested.
