Zack that is awesome! Seems its been a while since Rovers North introduced a new product improvement for our D2's and this certainly is something many owners need no doubt. Keep up the good work RN. Glad you guys have not abandoned us D2 owners yet lol.

On a side note its strange how my D2 does have 2 half dollar size rust holes but not in the usual spots, and my rear end is alright for a New England truck with 155k. I have one rust hole up front on the passenger side beside the cat and the other hold half way back on the driver side beside the center muffler.

Aargh! It needs to start about 12-18" farther forward for mine or it's just welding on to more rust.

I'm with you. Can't weld to rust need about 18" or so to get to good steel.

First post here! Hello.

I'm in the UK and am having a new chassis fitted to my 2000 TD5 D2 in two weeks time.

The chassis is brand new and is manufactured by Richards Chassis here in the UK - it's the box and plate version, not the 2 halves welded version.

The chassis is hot dip galvanised by Richards -> Richards Chassis For some reason they don't list the D2 chassis on their website (or I can't find them!)

It's then getting acid etched and painted.

SpannerMonkeys are then doing the fitting work which takes about a week. Spanner Monkeys These guys have done many swaps for members of a forum that I use D2BC.co.uk ? Index page Apologies if I'm not meant to link other forums, no harm meant and there's lots of useful D2 info there that might help you folks out.

My D2 doesn't have AC (not really needed here in Yorkshire!), SLS, or ACE so that makes the job significantly easier.

The fitting service re-uses whatever can be re-used and replaces whatever cannot be. Typically brake lines, fuel lines, plastic clips for those, various bushings, anti sway links etc, need to be replaced so there's a factor of cost set aside for those.

Chassis including painting & delivery is £2650
Labor is £995 (this is discounted due to a club membership, and i know the people who run the business)
With ~ £850 set aside to cover parts replacement.

All in around £4500 which at today's exchange rate is $7139

Clearly you guys can't get those labour rates, and would have hefty delivery charges on the chassis, but I thought this might be a useful perspective from this side of the pond.

I was initially going to get a donor chassis and have it dipped, but unfortunately due to road salting here in the UK, non rotten chassis are like hens teeth.

I've also taken the liberty to get all of my offroading protection cleaned up, with both front and rear HD bumpers (fenders in your nick of the woods I believe), rock/tree sliders, and the NAS spec receiver hitch going away to be shot blasted and powder coated.

Over the years of ownership I've done a lot of work on my vehicle, including fully rebuilding the engine, manual gearbox, and transfer box. Engine & gearbox are probably a novelty for you guys since you will all be running the NAS spec V8 & ZF transmission. You can see a potted history of the work I've done here -> Disco 2 BennehBoy's D2 adventure - Land Rover Zone It's a bit of an epic so apologies!

Good luck sorting out your chassis' and keeping your D2's on the road (and off) where they belong.

Ok a big question, I've been searching, what is the compatibility of a D1 chassis with an 04? I've been searching the wonderful WWW and there is really nothing. I can get a rust free, I mean the frame down looks new, Florida chassis, the whole truck is sitting in a friends scrap yard, bodies been banged up here and there, interior is crap. I got nothing but time so what does everyone think? Scott
