Default Front diff seal replacement

Is front diff seal replacement something that can be done at home or not?
Rave's M calls for a special tool, is this tool expensive/can I do it without the tool?
Transfer case also leaking from a very unusual place, according to Rav's M there is no RTV or gasket in that place see picture, I found a transfer case for 200 + shipping with less than 40k on it, which apparently had a leaking output seal. I was wondering how long will it take to replace the transfer case and output seal ruther than trying to fix the leak?

Thanks

seal on diff can be removed, then replaced with a suitable sized socket that is just small enough to slide in/out of the space, use to tap with small hammer the new seal home gently. Usually there is some sort of machined or cast lip that pevents the seal from going too far inside.

a socket works well, you can also get a set of seal driving tools for $20 at habor height.

Forgive my ignorance and lack of knowledge, but I do have to remove the fron drive shaft or not?

Which seal is leaking, the pinion seal or the 3rd. member seal? In both cases, yes you have to remove the drive shaft.

It is leaking from the area where drive shaft enters the axle

If you were a little mechanical, I would say go for it, but I get the feeling you are not at all handy when working on a vehicle, be better off finding a shop, not a dealer and have them replace the seal.
As for the t/case, can you take some pictures showing us where it is leaking? Also, have you checked the gear oil level to make sure you are not low?

The pinion seal is pretty easy to replace. As others said, just use a socket. I'd get at least one extra seal in case you bugger it up on the first attempt.
For the PTO cover plate you can rightstuff or something like that, provided it's leaking from the joint and not a crack.
