Front Drive Shaft Question
I've been searching, but there's so many drive shaft posts it's hard to sort through them all
Today I was out of town & a few hours from home when I got off the Interstate and heard clicking as I came to a stop and instantly knew it was the driveshaft. I replaced it about 70k miles ago and regularly grease the u-joints, so I knew it was the centering ball (or whatever it's called). I pulled the shaft and locked the CDL from underneath and made it the 150 miles home without issue.
I still need to drive it this week before a new shaft comes in, will I do any damage driving it this way?
Also, I'm about to put the Terrafirma medium duty springs on, which supposedly is around 2" of lift. Lucky8 says on their site any lift over 1.5" should have a Tom Woods driveshaft.
Should I spring for the Tom Woods or will a standard replacement work?
Thanks

No damage from what I've read driving in 2wd.
I put the Ironman4x4 2in lift on and have an old RoversNorth PLD665 1300 driveshaft. Maybe an upgraded 1310 driveshaft is what they're recommending? I think most would recommend that even stock.

why? Is the stock shaft too short, u-joint angles not high enough, etc?
This site has far to little real/technical information..

i'm not sure what the issue is, but i have a 2" lift on my '04 and have two of those shafts fail on me.
I'm just trying to make an educated guess on what to buy. It seems like there's a detrimental story for any brand shaft from Tom Woods to "everyone knows ebay parts are ****"..
Probably so but to me L8 and inferior parts go hand in hand.....could get real fancy and go glenn lewis out of the uk, don't know if I've heard anything negative from my classic or defender buddies that run his stuff.
You can also find a local drive line shop to rebuild your driveshafts. I use a guy local to me. The centering ball is the same as what Jeeps use. You can supply ujoints to save a bit of cash, or not. I think my last one costed me $109 after all new joints and new centering ball.
