Default Front Driver Door lock Failure?

Hello All,

Havea 2000 Disco with an anoyning problem. The front driver side door lock does not work with the key FOB or central locking swithch.

It will open, if locked, when the door handle is pulled from the inside.

Also, it can be locked and unlocked from the outside with the key in the door.

Replaced the actuator with a used one from a LR dismantler, but does the exact same thing?

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Nick

Also forgot to mention; I dissassembled the original actuator and found one of the two DC motors did not function, which I though was the problem.

Seems so unlikely the second actuator has the same failure.

The supplier did say they would replace it free.

Regards,

Nick

Sounds like you got a bad used actuator, may want to remove it, then plug it into the wiring and try it outside of the door, probably find it is bad.

Argh, I had the exact same thing happen yesterday. It'll work manually but not automatically.

Yep same here,

Both passenger side doors will not lock, or un lock with the remote or the button on the dash. They they only work if you manually open the door or press down the lock. Any outcome from this would be appreciated.

Pulled the actuator and the arm did NOT move outside of the mounting position when the central switch was engaged.

Checked the contacts on the connector, clean as it was new.

Guess it looks like the replacement is a failure as well.

I will send it out and post results when the next actuator arrives. Should be a week in total with shipping

Regards,

Nick

On mine it's only the driver door that won't lock/unlock remotely, the rest all work as expected. Same issue?

Yup exactly what mine is doing. Very annoying!

If it were any other door on the vehicle, it wouldnt be as bad. But the drivers door, PITA.

Nick

Just out of curiosity, where did you get the actuator from?

The auctuator ironically came from what looks like your location, Oaklahoma.

As I said they were really good about making it right, so I don't want to give an impression that they did anything wrong. Just sucks that I have to do the job again.

Never a good sign when one gets good at certain repairs. LOL
Can do it with a blind-fold on.

Nick
