Default Front driver side window

Read through a few threads about doing it and checked the rave manual, but before i start on this i'd like some more input.

Window goes up and down, but under strain as it sounds just like a motor winding down due to a battery dying. Would this be simply replacing the motor or would it behoove me to do other work while the panel is off.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: already bought the motor a few weeks ago when it started, but haven't been able to find time to do it until tomorrow

It's most likely the window regulator, not the motor. The regulator is the scissor track system that the window utilizes to move up and down. There is a plastic washer that consistently brakes on almost every Discovery. It's probably partially broken, causing your window to bind and making it hard for the motor to move it up and down. If that's the case, your options are to either buy a new regulator or replace the broken washer by drilling out the rivet that holds it and replacing it with a combination of metal and plastic washers (that's what I did and it has worked for over a year).

There is some company that sells brass or metal replacement parts, I'll search for it.

Falconworks is the name of the company. They sell aluminum wheels to replace the plastic ones that break. You need eight wheels to do every regulator (3 for each front and 1 for each rear if I remember correctly). Those aluminum wheels can get pretty expensive, I believe they cost around $20 each. I ordered two and ended up machining my own. I'll send some photos. Also, they send instructions on how to replace the wheel. You drill out a rivet and use a punch to remove the stud that holds the wheel on, but be careful because you reuse the old stud (or post) to fit the new wheel.

Thumbs up Replacement plastic rollers

Just want y'all to know I received LRD2&ME's fabricated replacement rollers today....quality is outstanding. If like me you did sleepercoupes method with the screen door roller you can use the "Solid Replica Roller" if and when it fails...if you still have the stud intact use the "Snap-In Roller". With the snap-in nothing could be easier...no need to remove actuator/regulator simply maneuver arm to an opening and replace broken roller.
Thanks Shawn...brilliant.

I drilled out one of the broken rollers on mine and replaced with a shower roller from Lowe's. It didn't fit at first, but after careful sanding it works and fits fine. Cost me $3.
