Not sure actually. It's a really easy job to do yourself. For a decent shop to do it, you'd probably be looking at like $50-$100

It will cost an hour of shop time plus supplies, whatever that amounts to. Probably around or a little over a hundred dollars. An hour of shop time is what the book says it should take.

Thanks for the quick reply.. I am still learning to be more mechanically inclined.. How tough of a job would it be for someone with little experience working on cars save for replacing tires, and topping off fluids?

Get some ramps from one of the auto parts stores. It should be a fairly easy job. For me the worst part is laying under the truck. If I had a lift, or access to one, it would be really easy. I thought I had the use of a lift lined up with a high school auto mechanics teacher, but I can't get him to return my call now.

Replacing a front driveshaft(with the proper tools) is about the difficulty of an oil change, it's really easy. I too have LR2001's drive shaft and it's truly 10X better than the genuine, it's worth the $300 for the peace of mind. Plus...he can paint it!

*Safety tip* if we ever use vehicle ramps always set parking brake and apply chocks behind tires that are in contact with ground. Better safe than sorry. I would honestly buy four jack stands and a heavy duty floor jack if it were me.

MC04DII : hope you enjoy! Happy Holidays

If anyone decides to tackle the rebuild themselves, like me. There is a excellent write-up in this forum. Search for it, print it out, and study it religiously before tackling. Just be warned, remember college went you sat for that final and thought you were well prepared and gonna Ace it, but then you got into a realized, :0

Honestly, the rebuild is not that bad. However, i feel its painstakingly time consuming and you need the "proper" tools to successfully complete the job w/o error. I did the rebuild myself a year ago, took me two days. A year later my centerball starting chirping. I ended up replacing the shaft with a new unit. Didn't want to bother with that damn centering kit. Plus, the new shaft has a greasable centering ball!
