Default Front Sunroof

Hi,

I just bought a 2004 Discovery S. The car has dual sunroofs, and the rear roof functions properly.

The front sunroof however does not open, and I hear no sounds or any response when I try pressing the switch.

I'm guessing that the motor on the front sunroof is shot, but I wanted to know if there's any chance it might be a fuse that's blown? Or can I rule out the fuse hypothesis, given that the rear roof functions fine?

Any thoughts or advice would be very appreciated. Thank you all for your help, as always!

I believe when my rear motor died, I could listen for a clicking relay but I don't recall where it was located - you're supposed to be able to hear the motor "try" to do something as well, but I couldn't hear that either. They're pretty stealthy when they fail.

Ironically my rear is dead again, but front has always worked fine. If I recall correctly, they share some of the same power supply in the fuse box and such, which would hint at motor failure if your rear still works fine.

You CAN swap the switch plugs in the overhead console, so I would probably just do that since you know you're getting a good signal/power from the rear switch - if that same switch still fails to operate the front (AND on the flip side, your old front switch activated the rear fine) then you'll know it's the motor, unless something got in there and chewed up a wire from the switch plug to the motor itself but obviously this is highly unlikely.

If it IS the motor, the only thing you need to remove is the front trim piece that on the headliner where the sun shades / switches are, so that's WAY LESS WORK than the damn rear motor where you have to take most of the headliner out.

When my sunroof motor went I could hear a clicking like the BCU was trying to send power but the roof didn't open.
