I double-checked the RAVE and found that "permanent faults" (shuttle valve switch and throttle position sensor) are stored until cleared. Other faults, e.g. a fault in a wheel speed sensor circuit, clears on its own if the fault is not detected on subsequent drive cycles. It's not clear whether or not a permanent fault can be cleared by disconnecting the battery.

That said, there are nine separate faults that can trigger the Three Amigos. That said, the shuttle valve switch and ABS sensor faults are most common.

Unfortunately it's all too common for owners to replace the shuttle valve switches and still have the SVS fault and the Three Amigos. That's because the fault wasn't with the switches themselves. It was instead a failed printed circuit buried deep in the modulator. Option B bypasses that failed part and restores full ABS function if the printed circuit was the problem. Option B does not bypass the ABS system.

 

Received the Icarsoft LRII today. It showed four faults for the brakes. There was two faults on the front right sensor, I think a shuttle valve fault and something else (can't remember). I reset the faults and started it up. Three of the four lights went out immediately. The ABS light stayed on. I took it for a test drive and within a few hundred yards the ABS light went out. All lights stayed out for the duration of the test drive. I think it's fixed.

When I was replacing the hubs, I switched on the ignition a couple of times to turn the wheel to better access the hub bolts. I'm wondering if that caused the faults.

Yep once the ABS faults are cleared the ABS light will remain on until it gets activity from the wheel sensors & then it goes out. If the Shuttle Valve Faults return perform Option B.

 

In case "option B" is needed can someone provide a link to the procedure.

 

It’s a sticky at the top of the D2 Forum if I’m not mistaken.

You can either test your original shuttle valve switches via a meter or I’d just highly recommend replacing them, that way you can save time by having the new one modified, and ready to install. You run one wire from the shuttle valve switches to ground, and you cut the yellow/green striped wire going into the WABCO ABS unit. That is all Option B does is bypass the delicate internal shuttle valve switch connection. Shouldn’t take more than 30m to an hour with a modified & ready to go shuttle valve switch assembly.

Indeed, this happened to me.. past month got the 3 lights on and off at irregular intervals. mostly when at a stop.
So I did OPTION B to repair and now they are gone. Also made sure the resistor value was 3, 2 and 1 K.

Some notes that can give others courage... I did not have to take out anything. Unbolted the ABS pump = 3 10 mm bolts, lifted, support with wood block. 4 mm hex to undo the abs module switch and that is all. I did put some grease before tightening, it sure helped. No more pesky lights.
