in the winters here in seattle it rarely gets UBER cold but in the winters i make sure to coat the door trims of my vehicles with a light film of used oil or grease to prevent freezing the door closed. also i spray lube in the locks. for you guys in the really cold climates i would recommend peeling the door panels off and coating the workings with some grease or lube to keep things free and prevent moisture from freezing things up.

Thats to much work, just lube the locks and hinges and latches every 6 months and coat the door seals with silicon spray every couple of weeks in the winter.
