Default Fuel door actuator

When I went to open the fuel door the other day, the door popped open and the little rod that retracts, retracted all the way inside the body cavity. I removed my 3rd row seat and then body panels and was able to put the rod back in place but it appears there is something missing in the hole itself, like a plastic guide maybe? I went to the auto parts store to see if I could find some thing that would work with no luck. Is this a purchasable part or do I have to buy a whole new actuator assembly for this? You can see by the pics below that something seems to be missing. The way it is now, the door latches but when I press the fuel door button, the rod falls inside again.

There's a rubber grommet in there, but I doubt it's what holds the pin from falling... Although, maybe it just keeps it from tilting when retracted?

if anything needs to be hd on these trucks, it is that thing. It definitely gets enough use.

SO true! They should have offered to throw in a small tanker trailer with your purchase of a new Land Rover DII. It would have a hose directly connected to the truck at all times. You could increase your travel distance between fill-ups from 50 miles to as much as 200 Miles!!!!

that would be perfect. but I am sure it would overheat with that much of a load.

LOL, too right. Think we could get a bulk discount if we all order one?

good deal, glad to hear

they might give a bulk buy deal, but it would be a wash. we would eat up the savings , in fuel, on the way to the central hub for pick up.

I’ve got the same rubber seal missing (it cracked and fell apart).

Is this the right part? ALR8770

What are the parts on the sides of the seal in the center? It looks like the part in the center doesn’t have a hole all the way through it, though it could be the photo.

This is the grommet that goes onto the actuator pole to hold it in the correct position in the car’s body?

Any alternative parts that work from a D1 or another model?
