Default Fuel gauge not working properly

The fuel gauge (td5) does not work properly. It never goes up to full and goes to empty very quickly. Not a problem in day to day but during a road trip i prefer to have a more accurate read out.
Thanks
Mark

just to confirm, the problem was that I had an imitation pump installed. I replaced it with a used genuine pump and the fuel gauge is working well now. just a note... when replacing the pump make sure you change the seal... cause it would not be in very good condition /... at least that is my experience
