Default Fuel Injectors

Just a quick question. My husband just dropped off my 2004 Discovery at the dealership for service. The service manager told him he needed to have the fuel injectors cleaned/flushed and that it would cost $160. Is this standard procedure for a car with 42K miles?

Thanks in advance.

I alternate between mid-grade and premium.

First stop switching octanes, it dives your ECU crazy and robs you of mileage and power.
Don't have the dealer clean the injectors. When he has a chance, have him contact me and I will walk him thru a very simple process that will work better then the dealers process and cost you about$20.

Stick with premium gas all the time? (Isn't that the obvious answer? )

Honestly, I am just kind of wondering if anyone else has even had this done. It wasn't something we were expecting and it seems kind of expensive to me. I don't know if this is standard procedure and they encourage everyone tohave their fuel injectors flushed/cleanedor if we were made to believe it was something that needed to be done since our Discovery is almost out of it's warranty period. I have a sneaking suspicion it might be one of those add-on, money-making, must-do's.

All the dealers arew doing this now, it is an easy sell and good profit.
